Just like it sounds, Etsy offsite ads are a way of marketing your Etsy shop off Etsy. The fees are higher than your average transaction fees, though. So are Etsy Offsite ads worth it? First let’s learn a little more about how they work.
How do Offsite Ads work?
Offsite ads are ads that appear on social media and google. You can’t choose what listings are advertised, but the good news is that you only pay for ads that result in a sale. This is a lot different than ads that appear in Etsy searches which you pay for with every click on an add. You can learn more about how Offsite Ads work here.
Do you have to use Etsy Offsite Ads?
Sellers who have made more than $10,000 in the last 12 months are required to participate in the Offsite Ads program. If you are required to participate due to sales volume you do get a fee reduction, paying only 12% per sale.
If you aren’t required to participate, the normal fee for each sale is 15%.
Are Offsite Ads worth it?
While the fee percentages can feel high for offsite ads, you only pay for them when you get a sale so the increased reach to new audiences is worth it for most Etsy sellers.
If you feel like your products can’t handle a 12-15% fee, you’ll want to reassess your pricing structure as your profit should be higher to run a healthy business anyway.
