Marketing your Etsy shop on social media can be a great way to boost sales. But how do you start and grow your following on social media? Start with these 5 steps.
Pick one Platform
When you are just starting to market your Etsy shop on social media, you’ll want to pick one social media platform to start. When you try to start and grow multiple marketing channels at once, your growth will be much slower. When you keep it simple and pick one, you become an expert at that one platform and grow your community faster.
To decide which platform to start on, you’ll want to pick a platform that you enjoy and one where you buyers are hanging out. Don’t pick a platform that you hate because you know someone that’s making it work or someone told you that it would be a good choice. You need to enjoy hanging out in your social media feeds to be really effective.
Choose from Instagram, Facebook, or TikTok unless you have a very good reason to pick a different platform. Those three have large audiences in a variety of different niches. Do not choose Pinterest for your first marketing channel. Pinterest is a search engine, not a social media platform and your results will be slower on this channel.
Create a Plan for Consistency
One of the best things you can do for your social media marketing for your Etsy shop is to remain consistent…whatever that definition of consistent means to you. Create a schedule to post even just 2-3 times per week and stick to it.
Do you have to be perfect? Nope! It won’t be the end of the world if you miss a post or two. But if you create a simple posting schedule, you’ll be much less likely to burn out or ghost your audience.
Experiment More
Social is saturated with businesses. So to stand out, you’ll need to try something new and have some fun. Doing what every other Etsy shop is doing to market their businesses isn’t always going to cut it. AKA no posting a photo of your new listing with a caption that says “New listing. Link in bio to shop.” Literally, no one cares.
Not every new idea will be the one that works and gets you a million new followers, but you’ll never know if you don’t try!
Engage and Build your Community
To develop that know, like, and trust and get your followers to convert to buyers, you’re going to need to get to know them! Remember to make social media social! Reply to comments. Engage with influencers in your niche. Make truly engaging comments on other posts and get to know people.
