Sarah Waggoner

I used to think when I went full time as an Etsy seller that I would have soooo much free time. I’d be able to spend hours each day meticulously planning my social media, meditating (napping), and creating new products.

Turns out that’s not really how it works.

How it actually works is that I plan and prioritize every half hour of every work day so I get the stuff done that truly matters and moves my business forward.

Start by Prioritizing

I hate to break it to you, but there is never going to be enough time to get everything done that’s on your to do list. Unless you have unlimited funds for virtual assistants, that is. So you will need to pick what matters most. What is going to move your business forward the most? What is going to set you up for success this year and the next? What helps you hit your goals?

Grab your Planner

Whether you use a paper planner or digital, you need to find a system that you can stick with. You’ll want to write your work hours in for the week. Then fill in your tasks. Prioritize tasks that have to get done. You have to make product, right? That goes in the schedule first.

After the gotta-do-it tasks, then comes priority one level tasks. What was on that priority list from earlier? That goes into your weekly schedule next.

Have some extra free time? First, do a little celebration. Then keep on moving down that priority list.

Why this Matters

When you schedule your time in advance, you know you’re working on the most important things.

And here’s another trick…you’re also much more efficient. What I end up doing when I don’t have my schedule done for the day, is spending the first 20 minutes of my work time trying to figure out what the heck I should be doing. I makes me so frustrated and straight up anxious. And no one wants to start their work day like that.

So give this a try this week and let me know how it goes by joining the Facebook group here.
